Amity celebrates achievers at 21st convocation; 1,730 get degrees
LUCKNOW, Dec. 10 -- A total of 1730 students, including graduates, post graduates and PhD scholars, were awarded degrees during the 21st convocation ceremony of Amity University, Lucknow campus, on Tuesday.
Besides, 33 gold, 33 silver and 19 bronze along with 8 "Best All Round Student" trophies and 34 Shri Baljit Shastri Awards were also given for excellence in humanitarian and traditional values, stated a press release.
The university awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates to students who completed their studies in management, engineering, law, psychology, fine arts, fashion technology and other subjects.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Anil Vashisht, Pro-VC, Amity University, Lucknow campus, said, "Amity is a leading scientific research and innovation based university where the holistic development of students is given the highest priority."
Congratulating the passing out students, he said, "The world is waiting for you to move forward, create your identity, and always remember that your university stands beside you to boost your morale at every step."
University's chairman Dr Aseem Chauhan said, "At Amity, you have been moulded in such a way that you can reach the highest peak in any field you choose. When you reach the pinnacle of your goals, always remember your family and teachers, whose blessings and prayers have helped you succeed."
Dr Chauhan also cited the example of university founder chairman, Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, who is the driving force behind the establishment of numerous Amity campuses in India and abroad. Sharing the founder's guiding mantra "BHAG" (Behavioural Science, Human Values, Attitude, Ambition and God), he emphasised that academic excellence combined with human values is the formula for lifelong success, the press release stated.
King George's Medical University's vice chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand shared her special bond with Amity University, noting that her father Padma Shri Dr Nityanand (1925-2024), a renowned scientist in Indian drug research, and Dr Ashok K Chauhan had a close association. She said the KGMU and Amity University could work together to achieve excellence in the field of health.
Prof Soniya Nityanand and Dr Bhaskar Narayan, director, CSIR-IITR Lucknow, were awarded honorary doctorates, while Rishi Kumar, senior vice president and centre head, HCL Technologies, Lucknow, received an honorary professorship. Dr W Selvamurthy, president, Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation, with all department heads of the university were also present at the event....
