AGRA, Feb. 10 -- An all-India mushaira was organised at the Women's College of Aligarh Muslim University, with poets from different parts of the country taking part. The programme was attended by a large gathering of students, faculty members and literary enthusiasts. The mushaira was inaugurated by prof Zakia Siddiqui, while eminent poet Azhar Inayti presided over the programme. The proceedings were conducted by Dr Sarwar Sajid and Dr Shariq Aqeel. Welcoming the gathering, the principal of the Women's College, prof Masud Anwar Alavi, said poetry is a powerful medium of expression that conveys universal ideas through lyrical beauty. He highlighted the literary and cultural importance of mushairas and said the event aimed to introduce students to rich literary traditions alongside formal education. Renowned poets, including Dr Makhmoor Kakorvi, Dr Naima Jafri Pasha, Azeez Khairabadi, prof Shahpar Rasool, Noman Shauq, Athar Shakeel, Salma Shaheen, Prof Mehtab Haider Naqvi, Aalam Khursheed, Prof Syed Sirajuddin Ajmali, Rahat Hasan, Dr Sarwar Sajid, Aziza Rizvi, Azra Naqvi, Gazanfar Ali and Dr Moid Rasheedi, presented their poetry on themes of love, beauty, social concerns, peace and human emotions.
