Lucknow, Oct. 25 -- : The air quality of Uttar Pradesh cities has started nearing 'severe levels' after remaining 'poor and 'very poor for over a month, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

The average air quality Index (AQI) of six UP cities was recorded above 370 mark on Saturday. All these cities -Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat, Agra and Bulandshehar - are in West UP. The state capital and Kanpur also recorded average AQI more than 370 in past couple of days.

In Lucknow, the industrial area in Talkatora region recorded maximum AQI followed by Gomti Nagar area. PM (Particulate Matter) 2.5 and PM 10 were the major pollutants in the area.
