Lucknow, Feb. 23 -- The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has opposed a tender issued to lease six small hydel power projects in Uttar Pradesh to private players for 42 years, urging chief minister Yogi Adityanath to cancel it in the state's interest. AIPEF chairman Shailendra Dubey in a written statement on Sunday said Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam floated the tender on February 18, offering operational control at an upfront premium of Rs 1.5 crore per MW. The projects-Bhola (2.7 MW), Salawa (3 MW), Nirgjani (5 MW), Chittaura (3 MW), Palra (0.6 MW) and Sumera (1.5 MW)-are located on the Upper Ganga Canal and are 90-97 years old. The federation claimed the combined capacity had been understated as 6.3 MW against an actual 15.5 MW, effectively valuing public assets at around Rs 10 crore.
