Adarsh to lead UP in CK Nayudu Trophy
LUCKNOW, Jan. 22 -- Former India Under-19 World Cupper, Adarsh Singh will lead 23-member Uttar Pradesh team in the remaining three league matches of the Under-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy as regular captain Sameer Rizvi has been injured and is in rehab.
Despite being at the fourth position in Elite Group D with 21 points in three matches so far, Uttar Pradesh have a chance to qualify for the knockout. In the second and the final half of the domestic season, Uttar Pradesh will be relaunching their campaign with a match against hosts Chhattisgarh at Bhilai from Friday before playing against Uttarakhand at Rampur from January 30 and against Chandigarh at Kanpur from February 6.
Kanpur's Adarsh has done well in the UPT20 League and was one of the key batters in Uttar Pradesh's runners-up finish in this season's Men's State A Trophy. Other members in the team for the remaining three matches are: Kavya Teotia, Ali Zafir Mohsin, Amaan, Deepak Rana, Kaartikaya Singh, Akshu Bajwa, Vijay Kumar, Vishal Tomar, Prashant Yadav, Vansh Chuadhary, Shubham Mishra, Aashiyan, Rituraj Sharma, Deepak Rajput, Siddharth Chaudhary, Manav Sindhu, Ansh Tiwari, Harsh Pandey, Aksh Singhal, Sachin Singh, Chaitanya Parashar and Arjun Kumar Singh.
Favourites UP Timber Club launched their campaign in the A division cricket league in style, notching up a convincing 59-run win against Yorker Cricket Club in the opening encounter, at the Sports Galaxy Ground here on Wednesday.
UPTC scored 242/7 after being sent to bat first in 40 overs, but their bowlers Anubhav Srivastava (4/28), Atif Sajid (3/23) and Suhail (3/39) bowled well to get the rivals out for 153 in 33.1 overs later. Sajid, who also scored 23 runs, was later named as Player of the Match....
