ABVP inaugurates Mela camp
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 11 -- The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Saturday inaugurated its Magh Mela-2026 camp with Vedic chanting and traditional rituals at the Sangam area. The ceremony was attended by Ashish Chauhan, national organising secretary of ABVP, as the chief guest.
Following the inauguration, the organisation unveiled official hoodies and posters for its Students for Development (SFD) and Students for Seva (SFS) internship programmes. A specialised medical service initiative led by medical students was also announced on the occasion.
Every year, the ABVP Prayagraj city unit conducts various internship programmes during the Magh Mela, drawing students from across the country to work on environmental conservation and other social issues.
This year's key initiatives include Students for Development (SFD), which focuses on environmental protection and promoting a "Clean Magh Mela" through sustainable practices, and Students for Seva (SFS), which is dedicated to providing voluntary support and selfless service to the millions of devotees visiting the fair.
In addition, the Medivision programme will offer essential medical and first-aid services through medical students, while the Jignasa initiative will focus on awareness and engagement related to AYUSH systems.
Addressing the gathering, Ashish Chauhan said that during India's 75-year democratic journey, a student organisation like ABVP cannot be confined by notions of "neutrality" or "secularism" derived from Western definitions. He added that Indian culture and philosophy cannot be understood through the narrow European concept of religion....
