VARANASI, April 1 -- Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) unit produced 572 locomotives in the 2025-26 fiscal year, adding a new chapter to the industrial history of Indian Railways. BLW public relations officer Rajesh Kumar said that 477 locomotives were produced in the previous financial year (2024-25), marking an increase of over 20%. 572 locomotives include 558 modern electric locomotives for Indian Railways- 401 WAG-9, 143 WAP-7, and 14 Amrit Bharat Locomotives.
