Dehradun, Feb. 19 -- Three more members of a gang allegedly involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit medicines of reputed pharmaceutical companies have been arrested by the Uttarakhand Police special task force (STF), officers said on Wednesday. With these arrests, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to 16. The accused-Naresh Dhiman, Lokesh Gulati and Mohtaram Ali-were arrested on Tuesday following raids at their residences in Roorkee (Haridwar) and Deoband (Saharanpur). Director general of police Deepam Seth had directed the STF to intensify action against the counterfeit drug network operating in the state. Senior superintendent of police (STF) Ajay Singh said the case came to light on June 1, 2025, when one Santosh Kumar was arrested with a large quantity of counterfeit wrappers, outer boxes, labels and QR codes bearing the names of reputed pharmaceutical companies.
