2nd phase to pass through 41 villages in Prayagraj
Prayagraj, Feb. 1 -- To address the persistent traffic congestion in Prayagraj, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalised the action plan for the second phase of the Inner Ring Road project. The ministry of road transport and highways has approved the preliminary detailed project report (DPR) for this phase, according to officials.
According to the NHAI, the entire Ring Road-spanning approximately 71 km-is being developed in two phases. Phase 1 is a 31 km stretch. The Ring Road will run from Sahson to Rewa Road, forming a crucial outer bypass aimed at reducing traffic pressure in the trans-Yamuna region of the Prayagraj district.
The second phase of the Inner Ring Road will extend from Madhopur village near NH-19 in the Soraon tehsil to Amilia village in the Karachhana tehsil. The proposed four-lane road will cover a total distance of 41.662 kilometres and pass through 41 villages across three tehsils.
As part of the project, a 3.5-kilometre-long six-lane bridge will be constructed over the Ganga River, and a 1.2-kilometre-long bridge will be built over the Yamuna River. In addition, the second phase will include the construction of four flyovers, three railway overbridges and 120 underground minor culverts, officials stated.
Following the approval of the preliminary DPR, NHAI officials and technical experts will now initiate the land acquisition process within the next six months. Siddharth Singh, project director, NHAI-Prayagraj, said that following the approval of the preliminary DPR related to the second phase, it has been sent for publication in the government of India gazette.
The land acquisition for the project will cover villages in Soraon tehsil including Kanjia, Madhopur, Kasari, Dubra Jagdishpur, Uthgi, Budauna, Sarai Keshav, Khijirpur Uparhar, Rasulpur Chandi, Kuresar Uparhar, Madhopur Malak Chaturi, Lakhanpur Kandu, Shahavpur, Bari, Sarai Phatte, Mandheshan and Faridpur Zed.
In Sadar tehsil, land will be acquired from villages such as Ahmadpur Asrauli Kachar, Ahmadpur Pawan, Asrawan Kalan, Begumpur, Bamrauli Kachar, Barawan, Bisauna, Deori, Gohri Uparhar, Gohri Kachar, Harwa Kachar, Harwa Uparhar, Jodhwal, Qadirpur Taluqa Adampur Bisauna, Khatangikh, Tiyara, Wajidpur, Hasimpur, Chhabilepur, Karehda Uparhar, Mandari and Mainapur. In Karchhana tehsil, land acquisition will take place in Amilia and Palpur villages....
