16 teams to participate in Babu hockey
LUCKNOW, Jan. 31 -- Host and last year's runners-up team UP Karam will be aiming to change the size of their trophy this time when they begin their campaign in the 36th All India KD Singh Babu Sub-Junior Boys (Under-14) Hockey Tournament, beginning February 2, at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Synthetic Hockey Turf Stadium at Vijayant Khand here.
The tournament, which offers prize money of Rs 5 lakh, will be inaugurated by Marvin Fernandes, a gold medalist of the 1980 Moscow Olympics, states a release of the KD Singh Babu Society on Friday.
As many as 16 teams, including defending champions Naval Tata Odisha have confirmed their participation and they have been divided into four pools. Other participating teams include Rajasthan Hockey Association, Jai Hockey Academy (Tamil Nadu), Tata Steel Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Round Glass Hockey (Mohali), South East Organization (Manipur), Flickers Brothers (Haryana), Manmohan Singh Sports (Haryana), Hockey Tripura, Holy World Sports (Punjab), OBHA Tamil Nadu, Major Dhyan Chand Hockey (Haryana), Hockey Assam, Punjab State Sports and Sports Development Authority (Tamil Nadu)....
