15-year-old boy injured in IED blast in C'garh
Raipur, Jan. 6 -- A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after stepping on a pressure-triggered improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly planted by Maoists in Bijapur district, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred in Korcholi village under the Gangloor police station area of Bijapur on Sunday and the injured boy has been identified as Ram Potam, a resident of Korcholi's Nadipara hamlet, police said.
According to officers aware of the matter, the boy had gone towards the Lendra-Korcholi forest area on Sunday morning when he inadvertently triggered a pressure IED that had been planted earlier allegedly by Maoist cadres.
The explosion caused serious injuries to his leg, following which security personnel rushed him to the 222 Battalion CRPF camp at Korcholi.
He was later referred to the district hospital in Bijapur for advanced medical treatment, officers said.
Following the incident, police said, security forces have intensified search and sanitisation operations in the surrounding forest areas, with teams trained in explosive detection and disposal conducting extensive checks to locate and neutralise any additional IEDs that may have been planted in the region....
