PRAYAGRAJ, June 15 -- The number of passengers buying tickets through Indian Railways' Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) has gone up in the Prayagraj division of North Central Railway (NCR), say officials. From April 1 to 10 June this financial year, 1.15 crore passengers used UTS tickets, compared to 1.03 crore during the same period last year. This marks an increase of 11.61%.Senior divisional commercial manager Himanshu Shukla said that income from UTS tickets in the same period has also increased by 11.84%. This year, the division earned Rs.78.47 crore from UTS tickets, while last year's income was Rs.70.16 crore. In just the 10 days from June 1 to June 10, the number of passengers using UTS tickets rose sharply by 34.18%. Last year, 13.40 lakh passengers used UTS tickets in these 10 days, while this year the number went up to 17.98 lakh. As a result, income from UTS tickets in these 10 days increased by 48.05%....
