11-km elevated road along Haider Canal planned to link Varun Vihar
LUCKNOW, April 16 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has accelerated connectivity plans for its largest housing project, Varun Vihar, with a proposed 11-km elevated road along the Haider Canal expected to reduce travel time from Hazratganj to 20 minutes from the current 50 minutes.
Prathamesh Kumar, LDA vice chairman, on Wednesday inspected the site and directed officials to prepare a detailed proposal for the elevated corridor. He said the road, planned parallel to the canal, will connect key parts of the city, ease congestion and improve access to the township.
The Varun Vihar scheme is being developed over 2,664 hectares along the Agra Expressway, making it the biggest residential project by LDA. Registration for around 2,100 plots in Kailash Khand and Kashi Khand is likely to begin in June 2026. Kumar also reviewed infrastructure plans and asked officials to expedite tenders for 60-metre, 45-metre and 24-metre-wide roads in the two sectors to ensure timely delivery of basic facilities.
