10 held after Ganj cafe staff brawl with customer
LUCKNOW, Jan. 31 -- Police arrested ten people on Friday in connection with a violent brawl that broke out at a cafe in Hazratganj here late Thursday night. According to police, the fight erupted following a dispute between a customer and the cafe staff.
The complainant, Syed Abul Hasan, told media persons that he had visited the cafe for coffee and asked for an additional cup. He claimed that although he agreed to pay extra, the cafe owner began abusing him. Hasan alleged that the situation escalated when he protested, after which cafe staff members attacked him and his friend using kitchen utensils and other items.
Hasan further stated that the cafe has witnessed repeated incidents of violence in the past and has frequently remained under police scrutiny for similar reasons. He said he suffered injuries in the attack and later lodged a formal complaint at the Hazratganj police station, detailing the sequence of events.
After the video of the assault circulated widely on social media platforms, police identified the accused and launched a crackdown.
A senior police officer said that all those arrested are associated with the cafe and were taken into custody after preliminary verification.
Hazratganj assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Vikas Jaiswal confirmed the arrests and said police have registered a case and initiated legal proceedings against the accused....
