'Over 2 lakh devotees to attend Ravidas Jayanti celebrations
VARANASI, Jan. 30 -- Over two lakh devotees of Sant Ravidas are expected to participate in Sant Guru Ravidas Jayanti celebrations at the Sant Shri Guru Ravidas Temple in Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi, on the occasion of Maghi Purnima on February 1, informed L Sarova, a trustee of Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Sthan Public Charitable Trust.
Seer Goverdhanpur is the birthplace of Sant Guru Ravidas and houses the Sant Ravidas Temple, where lakhs of devotees gather each year to offer prayers on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
Chief of Dera Sachkhand Balan, Sant Niranjan Das Maharaj, along with hundreds of followers, will arrive in Kashi on January 30 by a special train from Jalandhar to take part in the Sant Ravidas Jayanti celebrations.
Sarova stated that invitations had been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the occasion, but the trust has not yet received confirmation from either. Meanwhile, several mega tents and pandals have been erected, and hundreds of volunteers are engaged in service activities as devotees begin arriving. Earlier, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar conducted a review meeting at the site with officials from the concerned departments and trust representatives, discussing all essential matters and issuing necessary instructions....
