SIA files chargesheet against LeT operative
Jammu, April 4 -- The state investigative agency (SIA) produced a detailed chargesheet against a terror operative of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) involved in Thanamandi terror attack of 2024 before a court of law, said officials on Friday.
"In a significant development in the probe of the Thanamandi terror attack case, SIA J&K has filed a charge sheet before the designated court, against Sabar Hussain for harbouring terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF)," said an official spokesperson.
The terrorists were involved in the brutal killing of a civilian Mohammad Razaq while his brother, a soldier in the territorial army, had received gunshot injuries.
"The case pertains to an incident that occurred on April 22, 2024, when unidentified terrorists, forcibly entered the residence of Mohammad Razaq at Kunda in Shahdara Sharief of Rajouri district and opened indiscriminate fire. Razaq died on the spot while his brother Tahir Khurshid alias Tahir Fauji, a TA jawan sustained injuries," said the spokesperson.
Following the incident, police had registered acase.
The case was then transferred to SIA for probe.
During the probe, crucial evidence was recovered and statements of key witnesses were recorded.
It was established that Sabar Hussain, of Khabalwali in Shahdara Sharief (presenty putting up in Chamrer near Surankote of Poonch district) had provided shelter, food, and logistical support to threeLeT terrorists at his seasonal hut in Chamrer, he informed.
The three Lashkar terrorists were provided shelter and other logistical support during late June to early July in 2024, thereby facilitating the execution of the terror attack, said the spokesperson.
Accordingly, prima-facie offences under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, were established against the accused and case stands charge-sheeted, he said....
