Dharamshala, April 30 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Shimla has forecast rainfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh until May 5. While the middle hills and plains are expected to receive light rain, the higher reaches of the state may witness light rain or snowfall during this period. According to the weather office, a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from May 2. Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at many places across the state. Sarahan received the highest rainfall at 25.5 mm, followed by Shilaroo (5.2 mm), Kasauli (5 mm), Manali (5 mm), Guler (4.6 mm) and Pachhad (4.4 mm). Maximum temperatures across the state remained below normal on Wednesday. Una was the hottest location, recording a maximum temperature of 35.8degC, followed by Nahan at 30.4degC and Berthin at 30.3degC. Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 21.6degC, which is 1.8 degrees below normal, while Manali recorded 17degC, 6.3 degrees below normal. Other places, including Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kalpa, Solan and Mandi, also recorded below-normal maximum temperatures.
