Rs.23-cr released for HRTC pensioners
Dharamshala, Oct. 19 -- Deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday said the Himachal Pradesh government was fully committed to protecting the interests of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) employees and pensioners. Addressing mediapersons in Una, he said Rs.23-crore arrears were released to 647 pensioners over the age of 75. "These arrears were announced in 2022 and were due from January 1, 2016. Additionally, an amount of Rs.29.47 crore has been released for 222 retired employees whose pensions had been pending since April 2024," he said.
Agnihotri said Rs.23 crore has been released for pension payments for the month of September 2025. Additionally, Rs.33 crore will be released this month for leave encashment and Rs.33 crore for death-cum-retirement gratuity.
The deputy CM said the state government was ensuring that no pensioner or employee had to wait for their constitutional and financial rights. "The HRTC is the state's primary means of public transport service and the government is continuously taking concrete steps to strengthen the corporation. The government is working with a welfare approach along with financial discipline. All matters related to employees and pensioners will be resolved promptly and with priority," he said....
