Light rain, snow likely in J&K today: MeT
Srinagar, Feb. 10 -- Jammu and Kashmir may witness light rains or snowfall on Tuesday but no major precipitation till February 20, the J&K meteorological centre said on Monday.
The MeT said that Monday night was expected to witness light rain or snowfall at a few higher reaches.
"On Tuesday, the weather will be generally cloudy with possibility of light rain, snowfall and gusty winds at most places," said MeT director Mukhtar Ahmad. "Overall, no major rain or snowfall forecast over the entire J&K till February 20," he said.
Independent weather spotter, Faizan Arif said a weak Western Disturbance will likely affect Jammu & Kashmir on February 10, bringing light rain/snow at many places, with moderate precipitation at a few locations.
"Another weak WD is currently expected around February 17. Additionally, a brief and minor spell of rain/snow may occur over some higher reaches on February 14," Arif said on his X weather handle.
He predicts a major deficit in February precipitation if the dry conditions continue. "Beyond this, no major rain or snowfall activity is visible for the remainder of the month as per present forecasts. This could result in a significant rainfall deficit for February. Such prolonged dry conditions may also trigger early blooming of trees," he said....
