Srinagar, Feb. 20 -- The J&K government has introduced structured weather based crop insurance for J&K with apples and saffron included in Kashmir and litchi, mango besides saffron in Kishtwar. "Government has already introduced re- Structured weather based crop insurance scheme for major horticulture crops, including apple and saffron for Kashmir division and mango, litchi and saffron ( Kishtwar district only) in Jammu Division. "Tender for the same has been invited from the empaneled insurance companies ( by Gol)," the J&K government said in Legislative assembly in reply to a question of legislator Showkat Hussain Gania. The government further informed the house that the job allotment to the L1 insurancecompanies for insurance of these horticulture crops is in process. "Four bids from the empaneled Insurance companies namely agriculture insurance company, TATA AIG, Reliance General and Iffco-tokio have been received for Apple and Saffron crop in Kashmir and five bids from the empanelled Insurance Companies namely Agriculture Insurance Company, TATA AIG, Reliance Genera, Iffco-tokio and Chola MS have been received for Mango, Litchi and Saffron crops in Jammu," the government said. The government said that after the evaluation of bids at premium rates quoted by the companies, the Agriculture Insurance Company and TATA AIG have been identified as agency for three clusters of Kashmir Division and one cluster of Jammu Division respectively....
