J&K at critical juncture, mass movement needed against drug menace: LG
Jammu, April 11 -- Lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Friday issued a clarion call for waging a cohesive and decisive fight against spiraling drug abuse across Jammu and Kashmir. In a video message, LG Sinha said that a deep rooted conspiracy was at work to ruin youth of Jammu and Kashmir through drugs and that "it is time to wipe it out".
"Under a well-knit conspiracy, attempts are being made to ruin youth of Jammu and Kashmir. A need is strongly felt to rope civil society and all the stakeholders," he said.
The LG informed that to begin with, the administration has decided to take out 'padyatras' where members of the civil society including prominent citizens, sportspersons and youth were invited to take part.
"The first such foot march will be taken out on Saturday from MA Stadium. All are invited to be part of it for creating awareness among the civil society. This is time to get united and wage a decisive war against drugs," he said.
Describing drugs, a part of wide narco-terrorism strategy of the adversary, Sinha said that the administration has prepared a comprehensive plan and a 100-day programme has been made. "I humbly request all people to consider this as their own campaign and join it. This is not just a campaign but a purposeful mission to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free and to take effective action against drug traffickers," he said....
