HP blind persons' assn holds protest
Shimla, Jan. 6 -- Pressing for immediate filling of backlog vacancies reserved for the visually impaired in government departments, the members of the Himachal Pradesh Blind Persons' Association staged a protest outside the secretariat in Shimla on Monday.
The protesters shouted slogans against the government. The protest led to long traffic jams on Shimla's circular road causing inconvenience to the office goers. The association has been protesting in Shimla for two years. The demands of the association include filling the backlog of vacant posts under the visually impaired quota, increasing pension amounts, and improving basic amenities. They allege that these positions have been vacant for a long time, but the government is not recruiting for them.htc...
