Shimla, March 20 -- Deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Thursday asked ex-CM Jai Ram Thakur to clarify his stand on the issues concerning state's interest. The ruling Congress government and the BJP locked horns over the FIR registration against Congress MLAs during predecessor Jai Ram Thakur's government in February 2021 following their protest during assembly session as the BJP had accused them of manhandling the then governor, Bandaru Dattatreya. Speaking in the House during the Motion of Thanks on governor's address, which former governor Shiv Pratap Shukla skipped to read on February 16 on the commencement of budget session, Agnihotri said, "We expect the speaker to provide high-level protection and issue a speaking order. No case against an MLA can be registered for statements made within the assembly campus." Responding to Jai Ram Thakur's remarks regarding the governor's address, Agnihotri said, "Whether the governor spoke for two minutes or read the full speech does not matter. The document has been laid on the table of the House. That means whatever is written in it stands valid. The governor acts on the recommendation of the Cabinet." htc...
