Democracy can deliver stability, scale, speed: PM
New Delhi, Jan. 16 -- India's experience has shown that democratic institutions can deliver "stability, speed, and scale"; the country has democratised everything from "process to technology", focusing on "last-mile delivery"; and it has always sought to leverage its success for the benefit of the Global South Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday.
Modi's comments came at the inaugural speech of the 28th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan (the old Parliament House).
The PM spoke of how India has translated democracy into action.: "In India, democracy delivers. That's because here the people's aspirations and hopes are given priority. To remove all hurdles in their way, we have democratized everything from process to technology. This democratic spirit is in our blood, mind and in our culture."
"In India, democracy means last-mile delivery. We work for all, without any discrimination, in the spirit of public welfare," he added....
