Shimla, May 16 -- Himachal Pradesh chief secretary B K Aggarwal has pulled up the NHAI over the deplorable condition ofhighways across the state.

In a meeting in New Delhi, Aggarwal apprised secretary, ministry of road transport and highways, shipping, Sanjeev Ranjan about the progress of various highway projects in the state. "The NHAI is unable to maintain highways in Himachal Pradesh mainly due to paucity of field staff and labour required for routine maintenance in hilly terrains," he said. "The state government is facing the wrath of public due to the poor upkeep of highways," he added.
