Dharamshala, Nov. 15 -- Two days after a clash between two groups flared up communal tension in Chamba town, as many as total of 15 people have been arrested since Wednesday evening, Chamba police said on Friday. The incident, which also took a communal turn, took place late in the evening when a group of youths allegedly attacked three young men, leaving two of them injured. Police officials on Friday said people who have been detained include individuals from both communities, against whom allegations were made. The police have also seized four two-wheelers and one four-wheeler. An FIR has been registered against around 30 people, and seven additional sections have been added to it. Residents said that around 30 individuals arrived on motorcycles, assaulted the trio, and used abusive language against the deities. Soon after the incident, a large number of residents gathered outside the city police Post, demanding immediate action against the accused. Chamba additional superintendent of police, Hitesh Lakhanpal, said that they appeal to the people to maintain communal harmony and refrain from spreading rumors.
