Three killed amid dense fog; fresh W disturbance likely from today
Jaipur, Jan. 31 -- Rajasthan continued to remain in the grip of dense fog on Friday, severely affecting road traffic and leading to a fatal accident in Bhilwara district.
Due to extremely low visibility, more than five vehicles collided one after another on National Highway-58, resulting in the death of three people, while over six others were injured, officials said.
The accident caused massive traffic congestion on the Bhilwara-Udaipur highway. Ambulances rushed to the spot but were also stuck in the jam, delaying the rescue operation. The injured, trapped inside mangled vehicles, were pulled out with great difficulty.

According to officials, the accident occurred early Friday when visibility dropped sharply due to dense fog. In quick succession, at least six vehicles rammed into each other on NH-58. The deceased were trapped inside their vehicles and succumbed on the spot.
The Meteorological Department had already issued a fog warning for 12 districts of the state. Since the spell of rain (mawath) on January 27, dense fog has been prevailing during morning hours across most parts of Rajasthan, hitting traffic movement on national highways the hardest.
On Friday morning, visibility on the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway reportedly dropped to around 10 metres. Dense fog conditions were also recorded in Sikar, Churu, Alwar and Kota.
Meanwhile, Met Department experts have forecast that a strong western disturbance will become active from January 31 to February 2. Under its influence, districts in eastern Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur division and the Shekhawati region, are likely to witness cloud cover, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall on January 31.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on February 1 and 2 in parts of northern and eastern Rajasthan, with the possibility of light to moderate rain or mawath. During this period, most parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are likely to remain largely dry, the Meteorological Department said....
