Thieves lock Barmer man in room, STEAL gold AND cash
Barmer, Jan. 22 -- Unidentified thieves stole gold jewellery and cash worth over Rs.1 crore from a house near the India-Pakistan border in Barmer district late Tuesday night by locking the homeowner inside a room, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred in Suhagi village around midnight on Tuesday. The unidentified thieves entered the premises when the homeowners were asleep in one room. They bolted the door from outside, trapping the owner inside.
The criminals then broke open the lock of an adjacent room and smashed a safe kept there, and fled with the valuables. The sound of the safe being broken woke the homeowner, Sheshkaran Dan (54), who tried to open the door but found it locked from outside.
Bakhasar police station CI Rajuram said and efforts are underway to arrest the thieves....
