stray dogs attack over 22 people across kota: officials
Kota, Jan. 26 -- Stray dogs attacked more than 22 people, including a five-year-old girl and a naib tehsildar, in different localities in Kota city on Sunday, officials said.
According to officials, the incidents were reported from the Nayapura area and the district collectorate premises.
A large number of injured people in dog bite cases arrived simultaneously in MBS Hospital. Officials said all patients were given first aid and necessary treatment.
Naib tehsildar Anurag Sharma, posted at the ADM office, said he was at the office for official work when a stray dog bit his leg. He said that the same dog then attacked five to seven other people present in the premises, including sanitation workers. All the injured were immediately taken to MBS Hospital for treatment. In another incident, a stray dog bit four to five people near Masjid Chowk in the Nayapura area.
MBS Hospital superintendent Dharamraj Meena said that after receiving information about the dog attacks, hospital staff were put on alert. All injured persons were given dressing and anti-rabies injections before being discharged.
Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation commissioner Om Prakash Mehra said that as per Supreme Court guidelines, rescued dogs are released back in the same area after three to four days. He added that the incidents are being taken seriously by the civic body and further action will be considered.
Residents said that repeated incidents of dog attacks in different parts of the city have created an atmosphere of fear. Locals alleged that the menace of stray dogs has been steadily increasing, but the administration has failed to take effective measures to control the situation....
