Jaipur, Feb. 18 -- The state police's Special Operations Group (SOG) on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids at six locations across Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kolkata, Jalore, Kota and Jaipur, arresting five dummy candidates carrying a reward of Rs.10,000 each in connection with the 2022 Senior Teacher (Secondary Education) Recruitment Examination paper leak case conducted by the state's public service commission. ADG SOG Vishal Bansal said the written examination for General Knowledge and Educational Psychology and Science under the Senior Teacher (Second Grade) Competitive Examination-2022 was held on December 24, 2022. After the General Knowledge paper was leaked, the exam was cancelled and re-conducted on January 29, 2023. Subsequent complaints revealed that several candidates had fraudulently cleared the exam by using dummy candidates. An FIR was registered by the SOG against 14 candidates and other accused. So far, 26 accused have been arrested in the case, including 12 original candidates, nine dummy candidates and five middlemen. On Tuesday, three MBBS students and two government teachers were arrested for allegedly appearing in the examination in place of original candidates in exchange for money ranging from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh. The arrested accused are Mahesh Kumar Bishnoi (MBBS student, Jaipur), Mahipal Bishnoi (MBBS student, Kota), Sahi Ram (MBBS student, Port Blair), Hanumana Ram (government teacher) and Nivas Kurada (government teacher). Another MBBS student from Kolkata has been detained for questioning. Bansal said identifying dummy candidates solely through photographs was a major challenge. To crack the case, the SOG developed special software integrated with the state's One-Time Registration database to match candidate photographs and details. The arrested accused were produced before a court and further investigation is underway to verify their employment status and educational degrees....
