sharma reviews preparations for pachpadra refinery launch
Barmer/Balotra, April 14 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday visited the Pachpadra Refinery in Balotra, ahead of its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for April 21.
While interacting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers during the visit, Sharma said that the commissioning of the refinery would transform the economic condition of western Rajasthan and hailed it as a symbol of Rajasthan's pride.
Sharma added that the refinery would lead to the development of industrial zones in the region, creating vast employment opportunities and urged party workers to gather in large numbers at the inauguration.
BJP state president Madan Rathore will remain stationed in the area for three days to oversee arrangements, said people aware of the matter.
The refinery is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Government of Rajasthan. It is being developed as one of India's most advanced BS-VI standard refineries, integrating both refining and petrochemical production facilities.
Designed with a zero liquid effluent discharge system, the project ensures that no liquid waste will be released into the environment. The refinery will have an annual processing capacity of 9 million tonnes of crude oil, along with a 2 million tonne petrochemical complex.
Out of the total crude requirement, about 7.5 million tonnes will be imported from Arab countries, while approximately 1.5 million tonnes will be sourced from within Rajasthan....
