Sardarpura constituency records highest deletions in Jodhpur
Jodhpur, Feb. 22 -- The final electoral rolls published by the ECI on Saturday revealed the highest voter decline in Jodhpur's Sardarpura constituency, represented in the assembly by former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot.
According to the data, the constituency recorded a reduction of 51,071 voters between the pre-revision count (2,69,574) and the final rolls (2,18,503).
Gehlot is currently serving his sixth consecutive term as Sardarpura MLA.
According to Jodhpur collector Gaurav Agrawal, the total number of voters recorded in the final rolls in Jodhpur stands at 20,97,971- including 10,92,841 male voters, 10,50,097 female voters and 33 voters who identify as transgender.
Although all assembly constituency recorded a decline in voter numbers, Sardarpura's was significantly sharper than elsewhere. There are a total of ten assembly constituencies in Jodhpur.
According to the data, Soorsagar constituency recorded the second-highest decline (43,554 deletions), followed by Jodhpur constituency (39,459 deletions).
Reacting to the development, district president (North) of the Congress, Omkar Verma confirmed that the party had received a copy of the list and would study it carefully.
