JODHPUR, Feb. 26 -- Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday, while hearing a PIL regarding the alleged encroachment on the water bodies of Nathdwara town and their poor condition, directed the state government to conduct a detailed survey of the entire area. The court said that the exact dimensions of the water bodies, details of the land recorded in the revenue records, and a complete report on the current status of water flow should be submitted. The division bench of justices Vinit Kumar Mathur and Chandrashekhar Sharma was informed by counsel Divik Mathur, appearing on behalf of petitioner Harish Pandey, about the matter. The bench said, "The State is directed to get the entire area in question examined and report to this Court the exact dimensions of the water bodies in the area. The State shall also furnish the requisite details with respect to the khatedari lands as per the revenue records held by the persons..." "It is made clear that the State Government shall also file a report with respect to the status of the water channel in existence as of today, and if there are any encroachments obstructing the free flow of water in the water channel, the same should be removed forthwith by taking appropriate steps."
