Jaipur, Jan. 7 -- BJP state president Madan Rathore on Tuesday defended the Viksit Bharat Guarantee Employment and Livelihood Mission (VB-G RAM G), responding to Congress criticism over the scheme's name. Addressing a press conference, Rathore criticized Congress for renaming schemes after members of the Gandhi-Nehru family, citing examples like Indira Awas Yojana and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana. He said the opposition's objections to the use of "Ram" are misplaced and politically motivated, highlighting that the scheme guarantees 125 days of employment to rural workers- up from 100 days. He also highlighted past MGNREGA frauds under Congress governments, including duplicate job cards and fake muster rolls. Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said, "BJP has finished the right to work in the new bill as they removed the provision of guraranteed work in 15 days of application as mentioned in the MNREGA. There is also a mechanism in tracing the embezzlement for which we have taken action against all the corrupt officers. In the name of reducing graft, they can't take away people's rights."htc...
