Pradhan: Aim is to make Indian edu international
Jaipur, May 2 -- The central government's target is to make Indian education international, multilingual, and also mother-tongue-based, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday.
"The National Education Policy 2020 was introduced to give a global exposure to Indian education while keeping it attached to its root. Our target is to make the Indian education international, multilingual, and mother-tongue-based. Foreign language training in Rajasthan will just be beginning to achieve that target while I would also want the youth in this state to be trained in various other Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Bengali," said Pradhan, while addressing an MoU-signing event on foreign-language communication skills in Jaipur's Birla auditorium.
Pradhan was joined on stage with Union minister of state for skill development Jayant Chaudhary, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa in the event in which the Rajasthan government signed the memorandum of understanding with the state education department and the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad to run a foreign language programme in state every year.
Under this programme, at least 1,000 people will be trained in five foreign languages - Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, and French every year.
"Languages have been introduced to communicate with different communities and societies. We need more skilled youth as our PM said that we all have to go beyond our degrees and certificates. Rajasthan is the state that has set the entire India at the global stage. As 70% of the population is of the youth in this state, Rajasthan itself is a very young, skilled, and innovative. Foreign language training will not only generate more employment opportunities for them but will also grow Rajasthan's trading with different countries," Pradhan said.
Referring to various opportunities, Pradhan also highlighted, "Neemrana already has a Japan industrial corridor. It will now have more employees from Rajasthan who know the language. Our students will also get hired in Korean tech hubs or many private sectors in Europe. Once, they will visit those states, their job will be to promote our country. Their communication will help us in boosting our exports to those nations and earn more. This is how we will take one more step ahead to a developed nation by 2047."
Meanwhile, CM Sharma also said that this training will also be helpful for the tourism sector. "In the last two years, Rajasthan received 35 lakh (3.5 million) domestic and 47 lakh (4.7 million) foreign tourist footfall. During the entire five-year tenure of the previous government, the figure was 37 lakh (3.7 million) domestic and 42 lakh (4.2 million) foreign footfall. It shows how the number of tourist footfall is rising in Rajasthan. This is a big opportunity for our guides, hotel managers, travel agents. This programme will be helpful for them," he said.
Sharma added, "When I went to Japan during Rising Rajasthan summit preparation, we signed an MoU to send at least 5,000 nurses yearly to Japan from our state. These nurses trained in Japanese language will be more effective. We will now be able to build better communication with Japan. In exchange for sending our workforce, we will develop various other business terms with them. It will be key for our economic growth as well."...
