Jaipur, Jan. 4 -- Parents and students of a prominent private school staged a protest on Saturday against the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) decision to withdraw the school's affiliation, expressing concern over the future of over 5,000 students enrolled at the institution.
The protest comes days after the CBSE, on December 30, withdrew with immediate effect the affiliation granted to the Jaipur-based private school up to the senior secondary level. The board cited serious violations of safety norms and stated that the school's explanation regarding the death of a Class 4 student on November 1 failed to satisfactorily explain the lapses.
The protesters said the CBSE's move has caused severe anxiety among students and parents, as the decision directly affects children who have been studying at the school for several years.
Parents questioned how such a large number of students could be accommodated in other schools at short notice and what arrangements would be made to ensure continuity in education.
During the protest, parents said the children, who have no role in the alleged lapses, are facing intense mental stress and emotional trauma. They also raised concerns that forcing children into new schools and unfamiliar environments could expose them to bullying, isolation and psychological pressure.
The protesters demanded that the CBSE immediately reconsider and withdraw its decision. They argued that if any irregularities or administrative shortcomings were found, the board should have directed corrective measures instead of taking what they described as an extreme step that jeopardises the education and well-being of students....
