NGT raps pollution body over green norms violation by Alwar industries
Jodhpur, Aug. 29 -- The National Green Tribunal's Central Zone Bench pulled up the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) over continued violations of environmental norms by industries in Alwar district and directed strict compliance measures, including steps to operationalize the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) there.
The matter arose from an application filed by social activist Haider Ali, who alleged that industries in Chowpanki and Kehrani industrial areas near Behror were discharging untreated liquid waste into local water bodies and open land.
The bench of justice Sheo Kumar Singh and expert member Ishwar Singh on Tuesday observed: "In view of the above facts, the matter looks serious in nature and non-compliance of environmental rules. Accordingly, the State PCB is directed to proceed in accordance with the latest order of the Supreme Court of India for realization of the environmental damage according to rules and take necessary steps and to ensure that CETP under construction must be functional shortly."
An action-taken report is to be filed by both the applicant and the RSPCB before the next hearing on October 9, 2025....
