Jaipur, Feb. 10 -- Rajasthan forest, environment and climate change minister Sanjay Sharma inaugurated a two-day state-level van mela at the Secretariat Nursery in Jaipur on Monday, emphasising its role in advancing CM Bhajan Lal Sharma's vision of forest conservation alongside market opportunities for tribals producing medicinal plants and forest-based products. "The primary objective of organising such van melas is to strengthen forest and wildlife conservation while creating economic support and sustainable livelihoods for communities living around forests," , Sharma said. Inaugurating the event aimed at promoting nature conservation, environmental awareness and sustainable livelihoods for tribal communities dependent on forest produce, Sharma announced that following the model of divisional-level van melas held in Udaipur and Kota, similar events will be organised at divisional and district levels.
