Jaipur, Feb. 19 -- The state Crime Branch (CID) has arrested a man who allegedly ran a marriage fraud and human trafficking racket from Jaipur's Bhankrota. The accused, Bhanwarlal Sharma, who carried a Rs.10,000 reward on his head, allegedly lured women from other states on the pretext of marriage and sold them to unmarried men in western Rajasthan before extorting money through threats of litigation. Police said investigations have revealed that Sharma operated an extensive network spread across several states. The gang allegedly lured poor young women from states such as West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand on the pretext of marriage or employment and brought them to Rajasthan. The charges against Sharma include kidnapping, extortion, cheating, rape, rioting, causing damage to property, and offences under the Arms Act.Police officials said coordinated strategy and technical monitoring helped nab the accused, who had been evading arrest for nearly two years....
