Jully targets CM over Rs.8k-cr 'shortfall' in central funds
Jaipur, March 17 -- Rajasthan leader of opposition Tikaram Jully on Monday questioned chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma over the state's financial situation, asking whether the issue of reduced central allocations was raised during his recent meeting with Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi.
In a post on social media, Jully said that while "courtesy meetings" in Delhi were fine, the people of Rajasthan wanted to know when the state's financial rights would be addressed. He alleged that the economic health of the state was deteriorating under the current government and that the reality reflected in official figures was far from the claims highlighted in advertisements.

The Congress leader also claimed that under the Fifteenth Finance Commission, the state's share in the divisible pool has been facing challenges and that the Budget 2025-26 figures indicate a shortfall of around Rs.1,776 crore in central tax receipts.
Targeting the BJP government over borrowing, Jully said the previous Congress government had taken loans of Rs.2.26 lakh crore in five years, while the present government was projected to borrow about Rs.2.22 lakh crore within three years.
He further alleged that Rajasthan's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) had shrunk by around Rs.1.13 lakh crore, or nearly 6%, and asked whether the chief minister had secured any concrete assurance from the Centre to compensate for the losses....
