Jaipur, Feb. 23 -- The Indian Air Force put on a spectacular show of strength and precision in Jaipur on Sunday as chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagde lauded the force's legacy of valour and service during the Surya Kiran and Sarang aerobatic display at Jal Mahal. The chief minister said the skies over Jaipur witnessed an extraordinary blend of bravery, precision and technological excellence. Calling it a matter of pride that such a grand defence event was hosted on the land of the brave, he noted that Jaipur has proven its capability to organise national-level programmes, including the recent Army Day parade. Sharma said its journey is marked by sacrifice, heroism and unwavering dedication. Referring to key milestones, he recalled the Air Force's decisive operations in the 1971 war, terming them a golden chapter in military history. He also cited its crucial role in the 1999 Kargil conflict, where precision strikes in treacherous mountainous terrain ensured victory, and the 2019 Balakot air strikes that demonstrated India's strategic reach. Mentioning recent operations, including Operation Sindoor, he said the Air Force has repeatedly proven that the nation's security is in strong hands. The CM emphasised that the Air Force's role extends beyond warfare. From flood relief in Kerala and disaster response in Uttarakhand to cyclone rescue operations in Odisha, the force has consistently been among the first responders, he said. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he said, Air Force personnel transported oxygen and essential medical supplies across the country. He also referred to humanitarian missions abroad, including relief efforts during the Nepal earthquake and evacuation operations in Turkey, Yemen, Afghanistan and Sudan, describing the Air Force as "a thunderbolt for enemies and a protective shield for citizens." The air show enthralled thousands of spectators gathered along the Jal Mahal promenade. The Sarang Helicopter Display Team made a dramatic entry in a 'Warrior' formation with five Dhruv helicopters after taking off from the Nahargarh base. The team executed complex aerial formations before saluting Jaipur and creating the Tricolour in the sky. The Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team, flying nine Hawk 132 aircraft, performed synchronised manoeuvres including the 'Tejas', 'BrahMos', 'Cross' and 'Heart' formations. The display concluded with a stunning Tricolour formation that drew loud applause from the crowd. Governor Bagde also witnessed the aerial spectacle and described it as historic and inspiring. He said such events energise citizens and reinforce commitment to serve the nation. Recalling the Army parade organised in Jaipur earlier this year, he said it was the first time such a grand military showcase was held outside a cantonment area in Rajasthan, reflecting the state's proud martial tradition. The Governor lauded the strategic excellence of the Indian Air Force during recent operations and praised the pilots, officers and administrative teams involved in organising the event....
