HC lawyers to boycott work today
JODHPUR, Jan. 24 -- Three bar associations of the Rajasthan high court announced on Friday that lawyers will voluntarily boycott judicial work on January 24 to protest against the decision to declare two Saturdays every month as working days.
The decision was taken in a joint meeting of the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association, the High Court Advocates Association, Jodhpur, and the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur. In a statement issued after the meeting, the associations said the protest is against the Full Court resolution of the high court declaring two Saturdays each month as judicial working days. As per the decision, advocates will not participate in court work at both the Principal Bench in Jodhpur and the Jaipur Bench on Saturday, January 24.
Advocates Association president Ranjeet Joshi said the high court administration had issued a notification on December 20, 2025, declaring two Saturdays every month as working days. He said office-bearers of the three associations had written to the acting chief justice on January 6, seeking intervention in the matter. Although a committee of judges was later constituted by the high court administration, neither its report has been made public nor have the associations received any positive assurance....
