Jodhpur, July 5 -- The Rajasthan high court on Friday, while granting bail to a 42-year-old man arrested under NDPS Act for the possession of 605 grams of contraband, said he must perform two months of community service under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and emphasised the significance of reformative justice. Justice Sameer Jain, while hearing the bail application of Shivsingh Meena, noted that the recovered quantity was below the commercial limit and that the charge sheet had already been filed. The court considered that Meena was the sole breadwinner of his family. Highlighting the need for social reintegration of offenders, the court observed: "Taking note of the criminal antecedents registered against the accused applicant, as an extended interpretation of the provisions of 'community service' as enshrined under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, and as a reformative approach to re-include the accused applicant back in the society with a better vision, aim and zeal in life, this court deems it fit to impose an ancillary condition." As per the order, Meena will be required to contribute two hours of honorary work per day under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for a period of two months....
