Jaipur, Sept. 14 -- Rajasthan home department has notified community service as punishments imposed on offending government employees facing offences of theft, contempt of court etc. In a notification dated September 12, the department stated, "Any government employee facing any offences such as contempt of court, public misbehaviour, theft up to Rs 5,000, defamation and attempted suicide will now be punished with any community service work." According to the notification, these punishments will include cleaning local parks libraries, planting saplings, or serving upto 244 hours in any community centre. "The convict can be assigned to clean and manage any education institutes, library, and government clinics. They might have to do general service work in government hospitals... Cleaning and maintenance work can be given in old-age homes, mental health institutes, and social justice and empowerment departments," said an official statement by the department....
