Family attacks man for eloping with girl
Barmer, March 16 -- A 26-year-old man was brutally attacked with an axe by a woman and her three sons in Vishala village of Barmer district after he allegedly eloped with the woman's daughter, police said on Sunday.
The incident left the man seriously injured and triggered protests by the villagers, demanding strict action against the accused. Police have registered a case and detained four accused in connection with the attack
According to police, the injured is a resident of the same region. On Saturday evening, the 26-year-old was travelling on a motorcycle with his friend when they were intercepted on the way near Vishala village. The attackers allegedly stopped the motorcycle and forced the man to get down. Soon after, the group began assaulting him, police said.
During the attack, the accused allegedly used an axe, striking the man and causing severe injuries. His friend managed to raise an alarm, following which local residents rushed to the spot. The man was immediately taken to the government district hospital in Barmer, where doctors provided emergency treatment.
Following the incident, a large number of people gathered at the district hospital soon after the news of the attack broke. Several villagers alleged that the attack was pre-planned and demanded strict action against the accused.
Based on a complaint filed by the brother of the injured, police registered a case against three men and their mother.
All the accused are members of the family of the girl who had reportedly eloped with Mahesh, which is believed to be the main reason behind the attack....
