discom technician held taking Rs.1.45l bribe in Bikaner
Jaipur, Jan. 6 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Churu unit on Monday arrested a Jodhpur Discom technician while accepting a Rs.1.45 lakh bribe, officials said.
The accused, Vinod Kumar, posted as a technician at the Discom sub-division office in Upni headquarters of Sri Dungargarh in Bikaner, was caught during a sting operation, they said.
The bribe amount was recovered from the pocket of the trousers worn by the accused. ACB director general Govind Gupta said a complaint was received alleging that the technician was demanding a bribe for facilitating a name change in an agricultural electricity connection in the complainant's father's name and for reducing the VCR amount before depositing it. The complainant alleged that he was being repeatedly harassed over the demand.
Following verification of the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap. The accused was apprehended while accepting the bribe amount at the Discom sub-division office.
ACB additional director general Smita Srivastava said interrogation of the accused is underway and further action is being taken. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act will be registered and further investigation will be carried out.htc...
