CM transfers Rs.1.3K-cr via DBT on Ambedkar anniv
Jaipur, April 15 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday announced 200 Ambedkar e-libraries across urban areas and transferred Rs.1,363 crore to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer at a state-level event marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
Addressing the programme in Jaipur, Sharma said the government remains committed to reaching the last person in the social hierarchy, ensuring that the light of development touches the most backward and marginalised sections. He emphasised that the "double-engine government" is working on the ideals of social justice envisioned by Dr Ambedkar, guided by the principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas."
In a key welfare push, Sharma transferred the funds to pension and Palanhar scheme beneficiaries, bolstering the state's social security net. He also disbursed aid under the Kanyadaan scheme and provided assistive devices to the specially abled.
Sharma announced the 200 Ambedkar e-libraries to boost youth access to knowledge and digital resources, especially from disadvantaged communities. He further revealed plans for an Ambedkar Residential Coaching Centre at Mundla in Jaipur to aid competitive exam aspirants.
The chief minister virtually inaugurated a new library at the Swyamsiddha campus in Jamdoli and launched an AI-based "Help Desk Samadhan Saathi" to enhance service delivery.
Sharma inaugurated 10 hostel buildings and laid foundation stones for 17 more, underscoring the government's drive for student welfare and hostel expansion. He honoured meritorious students under the chief minister Anuprati Coaching Scheme.
Cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have fallen by over 28% during Sharma's tenure, he said. The state has allocated Rs.292 crore for post-matric scholarships to 375,000 SC students and Rs.534 crore for 321,000 ST students. More than 16,200 students from Extremely Backward Classes have received aid under various schemes.
Over 2,500 beneficiaries have gained from loan disbursements under the Ambedkar Rajasthan Dalit-Adivasi Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme, Sharma added.
The chief minister stressed that Rajasthan has set a benchmark in Antyodaya-inspired social security schemes, leading in tribal welfare and central initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat....
