class 12 student scores 88%, dies by suicide as she 'expected 95%'
Barmer, April 5 -- A Class 12 student allegedly died by suicide in Barmer after scoring lower marks than expected in her board examinations, police said.
According to police, the incident took place on Friday around 8pm in the Kotwali police station area. Upon receiving information, officers reached the scene and initiated an investigation.
"Family members claimed the student had secured 88% marks in the Rajasthan Board Class 12 results. However, she had been expecting around 95% and became deeply upset after the results were declared. Her father said she had been under stress and appeared disturbed since the announcement of the results," said assistant sub-inspector Girdhariram.
On Friday evening, the girl went into her room and did not come out for a long time, police said. Around 8pm, her mother knocked on the door, but when there was no response, she forced it open. The student was found dead in the room.
The family immediately rushed her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead, police added. The student's father, who works as a tempo driver, informed police that she had performed well in Class 10 and had higher expectations from her Class 12 results. Despite efforts by the family to console her, she reportedly remained distressed. "A report has been lodged by the father, and after post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family," said Girdhariram....
