Burglar leaves 'thank you' note, sarcastic messages
Barmer/Jaisalmer, Feb. 3 -- A burglar who broke into an assistant engineer's government quarter in Jaisalmer's Indira Gandhi Canal Project (IGNP) Colony not only made off with valuables but also left a 'thank you' note and scrawled sarcastic and emotional messages on the walls, officers said.
According to the police, the incident occurred late Saturday night at the home of Sohan Jangid, assistant engineer with the IGNP, in RCP Colony. Jangid was away in Barmer on official duty when the thief struck .
The intruder, who referred to himself repeatedly as "Bihari Babu", consumed snacks from the house and wrote several striking messages, Jangid told HT.
One read: "I am writing this with your beautiful pen. I have eaten your food and enjoyed it. Circumstances forced me to do this for the first time. If I stay alive, I will not forget this favour. Thank you - Bihari Babu."
In a sarcastic note, he added: "If you keep liquor in the house, keep potato chips along with it." He also warned Jangid against filing a police complaint, implying it would be futile.
The thief ransacked the quarter, scattering household items, before fleeing with a laptop, television, perfume and other valuables. Neighbours spotted the broken locks and alerted Jangid, who informed the police. Officers from Kotwali police station found the taunting messages plastered across the walls.
Station house officer Surjaram confirmed a case has been registered. "CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and the accused will be arrested soon," he said. Police teams are gathering evidence to trace the daring burglar....
