Bharatpur, Jan. 21 -- The Karauli district administration on Tuesday demolished a three-storey building allegedly built illegally by a man accused of planning a communal riot, officials said. To ensure maintenance of law and order in the area during the demolition, authorities deployed a heavy police presence in the area for its duration. No disturbance was reported, they said. The owner, identified as 50-year-old Aminuddin Khan, is currently imprisoned as an undertrial in connection to two cases- one involving an online gambling racket and other involving his alleged role in an incident wherein stones were pelted at a bike rally launched by Hindu outfits on April 2, 2022 to mark Mahanavami, which sparked riots that resulted in injuries to around 60 people and severe property destruction. His bail petitions in both cases were recently rejected by the district court, said officials. In the communal riot case, 54 others were booked in addition to Khan, said police. District officials in Karauli alleged that Khan obtained a false registration license from the Municipal Council to construct the building, which they said came to light during the investigation into the communal riot case.
